HON. COMMISSIONER FOR SCIENCE, TECHNOLOGY AND INNOVATION CELEBRATES WORLD SCIENCE DAY FOR PEACE AND DEVELOPMENT IN PLATEAU STATE

The Plateau State Ministry of Science, Technology and Innovation, under the leadership of Hon. Dr. Cletus Bako Shurkuk, successfully organized the World Science Day for Peace and Development Celebration at Odilin’s Event Centre, behind Plateau State Polytechnic, Jos Campus. The celebration began with a road fitness walk, symbolizing the strength, unity, and active spirit that drive scientific and technological advancement. This was followed by a press briefing, where the Honourable Commissioner emphasized the importance of science in shaping a peaceful and progressive society. The main event featured a Science Quiz Competition and Panel Discussions, engaging students and experts in thought-provoking conversations about the future of science and innovation in Plateau State and beyond. Students from selected schools across the three senatorial districts of the state showcased their brilliance, creativity, and passion for knowledge under this year’s global theme: “Transforming Tomorrow with the Science We Need for the Future.” In his remarks, Hon. Dr. Cletus Bako Shurkuk stated that the celebration was aimed at inspiring students to embrace science and technology as tools to shape their future and drive sustainable development. He further outlined the Ministry’s strategic line of action towards hosting the upcoming Innovation, Science, and Technology Festival, which will serve as a platform for innovators, researchers, and institutions to showcase groundbreaking ideas and foster collaboration. The event underscored the Ministry’s commitment to building a generation of young innovators, promoting peace through knowledge, and positioning Plateau State as a hub for scientific excellence and technological innovation.
